Insurance Plans and Types of Payments

Insurance Plans Accepted

Aetna~ I file with Aetna and you are responsible for your deductibles/copays and/or coinsurance costs.

BCBS of Texas~ I file with BCBS and you are responsible for your deductibles/copays and/or coinsurance costs.

Medicare of Texas~

In most cases, Medicare automatically forwards (or “crosses over”) claims to supplemental insurance companies like Medigap plans.

This process is called claims crossover (or COBA crossover). Here’s how it works:

  • When you receive covered services, your provider bills Original Medicare first.
  • Medicare processes the claim and pays its share (e.g., 80% of the approved amount for most Part B services, leaving you with 20% coinsurance).
  • Medicare then automatically sends the claim information—including the approved amount and what it paid—to your supplemental insurer (Medigap), if the plan participates in the automatic crossover process.

Your Medigap policy then pays its share of the remaining costs (coinsurance, deductibles, etc.), depending on the plan letter (A through N). You usually don’t need to file anything yourself.

UnitedHealthCare/Optum ~I file with UHC and you are responsible for your deductibles/copays and/or coinsurance costs.

I require Member ID and DOB BEFORE I can accept a requested appointment.  This is so that I can determine if I am in your network and what the estimated cost per session may be.

Filing insurance is a courtesy that my office provides if eligibility can be determined in a timely manner.  I do not have an insurance clerk and do not have the time to be verifying difficult insurance plans.  I also do not file for clients who have more than one insurance company.  You will have to pay the standard rate and I will provide you with a superbill to send to each of the companies to receive reimbursement.

*Family and Couples have ONE designated client for insurance purposes.  If I see anyone individually, then each person has their own separate file and insurance information entered.

*It would be in your best interest to call your company and find out what behavioral health coverage they provide and what your copay/coinsurance payment is per session.

I am also an Out of Network provider.  You will need to check with your insurance company by calling the customer number on the back of your card to see if they will reimburse you for mental/behavioral counseling with an out of network provider.
